How to Boost Your Online Fundraising Efforts

The internet has broadened our ability to raise funds for wonderful organizations. It really has provided us with unparalleled fundraising tools.  Sometimes though, it’s hard to know where to focus your efforts online since there are so many different platforms and promotional ways to fundraise digitally.  We’ve compiled the three most effective tips to get your fundraiser some momentum online.

Polish Your Website

Your website is like the face of your fundraiser.  You want it to be easy to navigate, informative, and represent who you are as an organization. Take a look at your current website and consider the following:

  • How long do your pages take to load?
  • Do you have a resource for those looking for more information on your fundraiser?
  • Is your website easy to navigate?
  • Is there a visible place for your audience to contact you?

The goal of your website is to let your audience know who you are and how they can participate in your fundraiser.  It should be friendly, but professional, and most importantly, it should be very easy for them to donate or participate in the fundraiser.  One great addition to your website is an FAQ page with helpful answers to common questions.  You should always have a contact page, but including an FAQ with common questions or concerns and a quick way to resolve them just makes it easier on your audience.

Family & Friends Program

The people closest to you are your organizations biggest supporters! This program gives the people in your life the ability to purchase products online with the click of a button.  The Family & Friends program is an effective way to promote your fundraiser and gain support. It not only gives your family and friends the ability to purchase with ease, but it also increases the visibility of your fundraiser, which is essential to its success.

Spend Time on Social Media

They don’t call social media “social” for nothing.  Spend time interacting and engaging with your audience on your social platforms.  A good rule of thumb is to never leave a message or comment unanswered for over 24 hours.

Many social media platforms now have notification options where you can be notified when someone messages or comments on your page.  This is a nice tool to utilize to ensure that you’re being friendly and timely with your social media followers. Make sure to also review your social media pages consistently so that you aren’t missing information or updates that are important to the fundraiser.
